Playing with coloured filters

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Rock and Island

I spent a morning playing with some filters I had neglected. This was taken with an ND filter and a red filter together.  5 second exposure at f/22 iso 100.  Two images were merged into a panorama in Lightroom.

Oh, I really like this. The slightly long exposure had a really nice effect on the waves. What effect did the red filter provide? It didn’t seem to darken the sky or was it other than blue to begin with?

That worked out really well Ivor, I love the long exposure effect on the sea.

I would have thought the red filter would have darkened the sky more. I love your results…and really love the details and reflection in the foreground

Yes, I was expecting a much darker sky, but the horison was nearly white not blue. The sea is much darker than a raw image I took without the filter. I’m going to give that (and other filters I had hidden away) another go.
