Inner Farne Island Wildlife Workshop and Photoshoot – 13 May 2022 Sold Out. More soon.

£75.00

Out of stock

Description

On Friday 13th May 2022 I am runing the first of this year’s group photographic workshop on The Farne Islands.

Because of the changes imposed by the National Trust, there is just one landing for one hour on Inner Farne. But the trip inlcudes a significant time on the water to photograph the sea birds.

The workshop price includes the boat ride tickets and landing fees. We will be going with Billy Shiels’ Glad Tidings.

Costs

The workshops will be £75 head, but in an additional cost.

There is also an additional landing fee of £12.60 charged by the National Trust that you must buy from the National Trust Hut in Seahouses. However, that is waived if you have National Trust membership 76.80 a year).

Wildlife on Inner Farne Islands

You get really close to puffin, shag, arctic tern, guillemot, razorbill,  and much more. We will see seals and, if we are lucky, dolphin too. Also included is a cruise around the islands.

What will the workshop cover?

We arrive before the cruise at 11:00 am.

The workshop will include camera settings, positioning yourself for birds on the ground and in-flight, bird behaviour, photograph composition and exposure settings. You will have plenty of opportunity to put the skills into practice and get stunning photos of the birds.

It is an intensive day on the island; the birds are noisy and the guano smelly. There is little shelter from the sun, but there is a toilet on Inner Farne, although I advise everyone to use the facilities in Seahouses first.

The trips are weather and sea-state dependent. If the sailing fails then I will either postpone the trip to a mutually convenient time or refund you in full.

Places on these trips are limited and so I am limiting the group to 6 participants.

What will I need to take?

A telephoto zoom lens of around 70-200mm is ideal, but you will still get great shots with a standard lens.
I will supply a full kit list when you sign up, but you won’t need a lot of extra gear, although you may need a packed lunch and  a water bottle is adviced.

What times?

We will need to meet in Seahouses at around 11:00 am for a midday sailing. . We get back ashore between 3.30 and 4pm

Booking Time Limit

Because I need to book the seats on the boat, I am closing this offer on Wednesday 4th May. So please book promptly.

Sorry, if you cancel, this workshop is non-refundable.

This workshop is a strictly a first-come-first served. If you cannot make this date, please contact me and I will see if I can arrange another. I also offer this as a one-to-one workshop. Please get in touch if you are interested in that instead.
