Gold ‘n’ Blue: Masterclass at Dunstanburgh

£89.00

Description

The “Golden Hour” and “Blue Hour” in the evening (and the morning) give us superb light for capturing great photos. The low sun brings us the gold and that switches to blue after it dips below the horizon.

Great results require not only great light, but also the right camera skills and this workshop is designed to get the very best out of your camera. We’ll be looking at coping with the rapidly changing light colour and brightness, and discovering what happens after the sun has gone down, and why we should not head for home quite yet.

We will be out for at least two hours, and probably longer. This will require walking about a mile to and from the venue on an uneven track.

Gold ‘n’ Blue Syllabus

1. Introduction to Light
2. Setting the camera.
3. Exposure and metering
4. White balance
5. ND Filters
6. Visualising and composing the shot.
7. Focus as it gets dark
8. Light painting
9. Composition
10. An introduction to the night sky

The workshop is hands-on and you will be taking lots of photos.

Participants will ideally have an understanding of the basic exposure controls of their camera and will use a DSLR or Mirrorless CSC.

Please look at the syllabus of my Bronze Basic Photography Course  to see the level of knowledge most participants have before they attend this workshop.

You will need to bring with you your camera with  fully charged batteries and empty memory card.

To arrange a date, please contact me beforehand.

If the weather is bad?

If the event cannot go ahead, you will be offered the choice of either a rearranged date or a full refund.

What you will need to bring with you

Camera
Tripod
Wide angle lens
Flash (if you have one.)

Strong footwear – (I use hiking boots). You may get your feet wet, so a change of shoes for driving home.
Head Torch
Suitable clothing for the weather

Optional
NDG filter
ND1000 (10 stop) filter to fit the lens you will be using. If you don’t own one, I recommend Gobe mid-level filters which are great quality and good value. Do check the thread size of your lens.

Other options to do this workshop

This sunset workshop is also available as a one-to-one training and can be arranged for pairs or for small groups. I’ll also be finding other venues including one that is wheelchair accessible. Please contact me for details.
