Photography is becoming a popular branch of art offered at schools. Sadly, with their huge workloads, teachers cannot offer the personal one-to-one time they would like. Furthermore, art teachers are sometimes not photographers, so might not know advanced camera and developing techniques employed by professional photographers.
Consequently, more and more parents seek private tuition that helps their child’s learning.
Ivor has helped numerous young people achieve top grades with their formal photography qualifications. He teaches creative approaches and the technical skills that meet the requirements of the qualifications. He covers all genres of photography. Giving practical help for creating compelling images that tell a story, he also provides advice for sorting photographs into coherent portfolios.
Furthermore, working alongside a professional photographer is a great addition to a CV.
Lessons are usually available outdoors, although studio equipment lessons happen indoors. Lightroom, Photoshop and other developing software tuition is available too, as well as darkroom techniques. Practical darkroom tuition is available separately on request.
Lessons usually happen in and around Amble during the early evenings while it is still light. However, daytime slots are available at weekends, and midweek for home-schooling students. After-dark lessons are available for students studying night photography. Please contact Ivor to check availability before booking.
Many students work side-by-side with their friends. Therefore, Ivor also offers private tuition to small groups of two to four students at reduced rates.
