These 5-week Basic Photography Course Evening Classes are aimed at complete beginners.

Do you have a DSLR, mirrorless, bridge, or advanced compact camera? Is it sitting in a cupboard barely used because it seems too complex? Is it only ever in Auto mode? If that sounds familiar, you are not alone. Lots of people are similarly stuck.

Try learning how to use it instead. Discover the importance of metering and exposure settings, accurate focusing, depth of field, and composition. We also look at black-and-white photography and colour theory. Plus, there’s everything you need to know about good light. Start taking wall-hangers instead of snaps.

Running on Wednesday evenings over 5 weeks, these Basic Photography Evening Classes start on the 2nd September 2026. Based in and around Amble, Warkworth, and Druridge Bay, the course covers several genres of photography. Each workshop is around an hour and a half long.

I don’t take more than six people. (If you prefer private tuition, you can also book this exclusively on a 1-2-1 course of workshops.)
